CP3 to create Wemby 2.0?
A master scheme by Pop
The San Antonio Spurs wasted no time in acquiring Chris Paul after the Warriors, questionably, let him go for no gain. Chris Paul has been known to elevate every team he has played for. He is one of the few true point guards left in the league, though he is in the twilight of a historic career.
Chris Paul has also elevated the game of many of his former big-man teammates. Names like David West, Blake Griffin, Deandre Jordan, and Clint Capela have all benefited from having “The Point God” running the floor with them. There has also been a theme throughout his career where he has a young or not yet established big man on his team whose numbers improve almost immediately.
Wemby had an incredible rookie season, earning the Rookie of the Year award, so he is no slouch. If Chris Paul can help him hone in on his position and show him how to improve upon the skill base he already has, that spells trouble for the rest of the NBA. Even if Paul isn’t personally putting up big numbers or minutes, his most significant impact on the Spurs will be the tips and tricks he shows to Wemby and the practices they share.
The aforementioned players have different play styles; if you put them all together, they seem to form Wemby. Paul has proven he can build upon those skill sets and elevate big men to an even higher level of play. Once Chris Paul does what he has done many times prior, but with Wemby, the stars are the limit for “The Alien,” and CP3 just may be what sends him into orbit.
