IndyCar Iwoa Hy-Vee

One month after the NASCAR Cup Series made its Iowa Speedway debut, the NTT IndyCar Series returns to the 7/8-mile bullring this weekend for a pair of 250-mile races. Iowa Speedway will host its 20th and 21st IndyCar races, tying with the NASCAR Xfinity Series for the most races by any series at this venue. Alex Palou, the 2021 and 2023 IndyCar series champion, currently holds a 48-point lead over 2022 champion Will Power after nine of 17 races.

For the third consecutive year, West Des Moines-based Hy-Vee will sponsor and promote both races at Iowa Speedway.

Championship Race Heats Up

The NTT IndyCar Series is back in corn country for its traditional double-header. The race for the championship continues to heat up as drivers prepare to compete in the Hy-Vee Homefront 250 at Iowa Speedway on Saturday night. Pato O’Ward reinstated his name into the title picture last Sunday at Mid-Ohio by making a key pass by defending champion Alex Palou and scoring his second win of the season.

Dominance of Josef Newgarden

Josef Newgarden, who sits in 10th place in the driver’s standings, has a great opportunity to make up ground with three of the next four races coming on ovals, his specialty. The two-time series champion has earned the title “King of Corn Country,” having won five of the last seven races at Iowa, including sweeping the doubleheader last season.
