Sports streaming out of hand

So Many Sites

It’s a hot day late in the summer. You flip the TV to channel 4 to watch the football game of your choice and later on, flip over to 49 to watch a basketball game—sadly, these days are over. With so many streaming services available nowadays, watching sports is becoming more of a hassle than a relaxing pastime. Each game or sport seems to be shown on a different service.

To some people, this is no issue as they have great internet and can afford all the streaming services without issue. Still, others live in more rural areas where WiFi is almost a foreign concept, and paying for multiple services is just out of the question(also, nobody wants to repeatedly sign up and cancel memberships every other week).

If you’re anything like me, you’re not a fan of this change. I like the ease of access and that I do not constantly ask Google where I can find the game that night. Leaving sports-watching in the hands of whichever streaming service will pay the most money shows a lack of care for fans. Sports fans are going to go broke to be sports fans. They will be required to have all these different services to follow the sports they love. Cable/satellite was nice because you could watch whichever sport you wanted, regardless of which one you had.

With sports streaming becoming widespread, who knows where it will end and how much money we will have to shell out monthly to be able to say we watched a game last night. I, for one, hope they find a solution that is more accessible and affordable to the common sports fan.
